Conditions for Participants

  1. The research area and the research work should belong to Uttarakhand only.

  2. Abstracts from the Presenting Author resides outside of Uttarakhand will not be entertained.

  3. Any one of the author will be considered for presentation, however, the name of the presenting author must be marked with an asterisk (*).

  4. Under Young Scientist category (Category 1 and Category 2) only the presenting author will be considered for the award.

  5. Only one presentation will be allowed from one individual scientist/ researcher.

  6. Researchers, who have already been awarded in previous Science Congress, will not be considered for Award in the current Science Congress.

  7. Maximum duration for oral presentation will be 10 minutes including discussion.

  8. The decision for Oral/ Poster presentation will be strictly followed as per the approval of the Academic Evaluation Committee. The acceptance/ rejection of a paper is solely under the jurisdiction of UCOST.

  9. Only Presenter/ contributor of selected papers will be allowed to participate in USSTC i.e. on spot registration will not be entertained.

  10. Only the authors, whom Acceptance Letter is addressed to and have presented their papers during the Technical Session, will be provided “Certificate of Participation” for their Oral/Poster presentations.

  11. In order to encourage young scientists for pursuing exciting and innovative research, the Council has instituted Young Scientists Award programme. The eligibility criteria for Young Scientist is PG degree in science or Bachelor's degree in case of Engineering/ Medical Sciences/ Ayurveda/ Veterinary Sciences.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION & GUIDELINES

Council invites abstracts for Oral and Poster presentations during the Congress from faculty members, scientists, research fellows, post doctoral fellows and researchers working in different R&D research institutions, universities, colleges and any recognized, private or autonomous Science and Technology organizations located in the Uttarakhand state in the following disciplines:-

  1. Agricultural Sciences

  2. Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Microbiology

  3. Botany

  4. Chemistry

  5. Earth Sciences including Geology, Geomorphology, Geophysics, Glaciology and Geography

  6. Engineering Science and Technology

  7. Environmental Science and Forestry

  8. Home Science

  9. Material Science and Nano Technology

  10. Mathematics; Statistics and Computer Science

  11. Medical Science including Pharmaceutical Science

  12. Physics

  13. Rural Technology

  14. Science and Society/ Science Communication

  15. Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry

  16. Zoology

Besides this, proposals/nominations for "Innovator of the Year 2021-22" are also Invited under Innovator category..

Guidelines for Preparing Abstract:

  • Abstract should be self-explanatory, standalone summary of the work that other can use as an overview. It should be written in one para of 200-500 words only, containing the purpose/ background and outcome of the work, supported by the data obtained. The abstract should be concluded with most important take-home message of the study, expressed in few precisely worded sentences along with prospects for future research and development. The purpose/ background should be framed in few sentences describing a different aspect of the information related to the topic. The outcome/result section should be the longest part of the abstract and should contain as much detail about the findings as the word count permits.

  • Abstract should not contain any Figure, Image or Table/Chart.
  • The abstract must be free from mistakes, since they will be reproduced as such in the compendium of abstracts for distribution.

Note * The Abstract (Oral/ Poster) should be submitted as per the Council's format given as ANNEXURE-A
 

Guidelines for submission of Abstract

  • Kindly submit duly completed ANNEXURE-A through -

    • email (EDITABLE MSWord format only at usstc-16@ucost.in)  and

    • One copy by Speed Post or by hand to the Council's office at Dehradun. Write in bold letters on the top of the envelop "Abstract for 16th USSTC 2021-22".

  • One author/ contributor is allowed to present only one paper (poster or oral) in any discipline.

  • Only the main author marked by *, who will receive Acceptance Letter of his/ her abstract/ paper, will be registered in Congress. Co-authors are not allowed for registration.

  • Received papers will be evaluated by Screening Committee and only accepted papers will be sent invitation for presentation. The acceptance/ rejection of a paper is solely under the jurisdiction of UCOST.

  • Presenting Author Name will not be Altered after generation of Acceptance Letter.

  • All participants/contributors are required to send ANNEXURE-A duly signed by the Supervisor/ PI/ Head of the Institute and by themselves at the appropriate place/places.

  • Participants/contributors of Category I and Category 2 are necessarily required to submit their (i)-date of Birth Certificate; (ii)-Copy of PG degree in science OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Medical Sciences/ Ayurveda/ Veterinary Sciences along with ANNEXURE-A.

  • Hard Copy of ANNEXURE-A must be signed and stamped by the Concerned Head/HOD/ P.I./Guide/Supervisor of the Organization/ Institution from Uttarakhand only.

  • In absence of the above mentioned essential documents; the abstract/paper will be Rejected.

Guidelines for preparation of Poster

Poster presenters (only selected Abstracts) are advised to follow the dimensions given below-

  • Poster size should be of 1mtrX1mtr and should be neatly prepared, which could be read from a distance of 3 feet.

  • On Right top corner, poster should indicate subject/ discipline under which it falls.

  • The letter size should be 20mm for heading, 15mm for author and affiliation and 10mm for texts.

  • Poster should be organized into sections such as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions, Acknowledgement and References (limit to maximum 4).

  • The matter should be brief with liberal illustrations- graphs, pictures and photographs.

Categories in each Disciplines

Category 1 (maximum age 30 yrs as on 15-12-2021 i.e. Date of birth falls on or after 16-12-1991)
  • One best paper (oral) and one best poster adjudged by the panel of experts, in each discipline will be felicitated with the Young Scientist Award by the Council. The maximum age for this category should not exceed 30 years as on 15-12-2021. The participants/contributors are required to submit the abstract as per prescribed format (ANNEXURE-A). Certificate of ANNEXURE-A should be completely filled and duly signed by his/her Supervisor/PI/Head of the institute, otherwise the abstract will not be considered for the screening.

Category-2 (age above 30 but less than or upto 40 yrs as on 15-12-2021 i.e. Date of birth falls between 16-12-1981 and 15-12-1991)
  • One best paper (oral) and one best poster adjudged by the panel of experts, in each discipline will be felicitated with the young Scientist award by the Council. The maximum age for this category should not exceed 40 years as on 15-12-2021. The participants/contributors are required to submit the abstract as per prescribed format (ANNEXURE-A). Certificate of ANNEXURE-A should be completely filled and duly signed by his/her Supervisor/PI/Head of the institute, otherwise the abstract will not be considered for the screening.

Category-3 (above 40 yrs as on 15-12-2021 i.e. Date of birth falls on or before 15-12-1981)
  • Contributions (oral or poster presentations) are invited from Senior Researchers (above 40 years). They are required to submit the abstract as per prescribed format (ANNEXURE-A). Certificate of ANNEXURE-A should be completely filled and duly signed by his/her Supervisor/PI/Head of the institute, otherwise the abstract will not be considered for the screening.

Category-4 (no age bar): One INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
  • Proposals or Nominations are invited in this category. There is no age bar in this category. Participants/contributors are required to submit the abstract as per prescribed format (ANNEXURE-A). Innovation is the process of translating an idea or invention into a 'product' or a 'service' that has economic importance. This award is given to the people, whose invention is of economic importance or has made significant contribution to the benefit of society. The innovator will be supported for protection of rights as well as to further extend the horizon of the outcome of the innovation for the application as well as usefulness for the society. However, the work, which has been executed without making use of any formal laboratory, may be preferred for this award.              .

REGISTRATION FEE

  1. Registration fee for USSTC is as follows:-
  • Research Scholars/ Students (without fellowship)        Nil
  • Research Scholars (with fellowship)                            Rs 1,000/- (Rs One Thousand only)
  • Others                                                                      Rs 2,000/- (Rs Two Thousand only)
  1. All the registered participants will be provided with Registration Kit and lodging/boarding (out of Dehradun) during USSTC.
  2. TA will be provided only to outstation research scholars/students (without fellowship). Fare will be paid for ordinary class/ sleeper second class of bus/train through shortest route to and from your work place to the venue.

  3. All participants/ contributors should necessarily fill Certificate of ANNEXURE-A and get it duly signed by his/ her Supervisor/PI/Head of the Institute, otherwise the abstract will not be considered for the screening.

  4. Registration fee must be deposited along with the hard copy of ANNEXURE-A.
  5. Demand Draft should be in favour of Executive Chairman, Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Congress payable at Dehradun.
