State Aroma Mission Launch in Uttarakhand: CSIR-CIMAP & UCOST Initiative

A seminar was held at Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST), Dehradun on June 27, 2023 to mark the launching of the State Aroma Mission in Uttarakhand. This initiative is a joint effort of UCOST and CSIR-CIMAP. The esteemed presence of Dr Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP and Dr Manoj Semwal, Senior Principal Scientist added great value to the event. Prof. Durgesh Pant, Director General, UCOST expressed his gratitude to all the guests and stressed the importance of collaboration between CSIR-CIMAP and UCOST to drive this initiative forward. The guest speakers emphasized the significance of utilizing aroma-based and medicinal plants in Uttarakhand. This strategic approach holds immense potential to boost the state’s economy, empower local farmers, and stimulate growth in various industries. The engagement of NGOs, farmers, entrepreneurs, universities, and industry leaders further highlighted the widespread support for this mission, all driven by the common goal of positioning Uttarakhand as a leader in this field. Dr D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST coordinated the program and provided insights into his expertise in the field to ensure its success and take proactive steps towards its implementation. The launching of the State Arora Mission in Uttarakhand sets the stage for a transformative journey, empowering local communities, fostering economic growth, and harnessing the rich potential of the state’s resources.
