Program Advisory and Monitoring Committee (PAC) meeting for Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) & Review Meeting for SC-ST Cells

A Two Day’s  Program Advisory and Monitoring Committee (PAC) meeting for Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) & Review Meeting for SC-ST Cells held at Ucost Vigyan Dham Jhajra, Dehradun on 11th -12th May, 2023. Meeting started with the formal welcome of experts. In his welcome address, Prof Pant laid emphasis on formulating strategies for the uplift of SC communities. He added that this national meet would serve as a platform for robust discussions and collaborative efforts to evaluate the progress and impact of the SCSP and the insights and recommendations generated during the meet would shape future policies and initiatives aimed at creating a more equitable and inclusive society. Experts from various state science councils and DST GOI reviewed the livelihood improvement projects. Dr Debapriya Dutta, Advisor, Seed Division DST;  Dr. Gopikrishna Konga, Scientist ‘F’, SEED Division DST; Ms Rajni Rawat Scientist D SEED Division; Sh. Prayaga Srinivas Field Officer, Telengana State Council  for Science &Technology, Sh. M. Nagesh Member Secretary (HoD), Telengana SCS&T, Shri RS Hiremath Bengaluru, Prof Dipak Ranjan Mandal Joka, Kolkata, Prof. (Dr.) Dharmeswar Das, Guwahati, Prof. Onkar Nath Tiwari ICAR – IARI, Pusa, Dr. Shyam Viswanath, and others were present in the expert panel.  Day 1 Projects was chaired by Prof Durgesh Pant, Director General, UCOST, Dehradun and 2nd Day Projects was chaired by Prof Talukdaar. A total number of 28 projects were evaluated in which 17 were evaluated on Day 1 and 11 were evaluated on Day two. In the concluding session Prof (Dr) Durgesh Pant DG UCOST reiterated the need to focus on effective utilization and bigger outreach of schemes & interactions of S&T Councils.
