A one day IPR awareness workshop was organized at Govt. P.G. College, Karanprayag (Chamoli) on 30th October 2015. The workshop entitled “Protection of R&D Outcomes through Intellectual Property Rights” was inaugurated by the Principal of Govt. P.G College, Karanprayag. The workshop witnessed the presence of Mr. Anil Kumar, Scientist-B, UCOST, Dehradun as guests of honor. The workshop benefitted around 200 participated including faculties and students.
Dr S.D Benjiwal, Principal, Govt. P.G. College, Karanprayag, welcomed the Guest of Honour, other dignitaries and the participants. The workshop was inaugurated by the the Guest of Honour, Mr. Anil Kumar and Dr S.D Benjiwal, Principal, Govt. P.G College, Karanprayag.
In his speech, Dr S.D Benjiwal stressed on the need for registering intellectual creations and using IPR’s for the betterment of nation. He explained the importance of IPR protection and how inventions & intellectual creations could help to boost economic and technological developments in the country.
The first technical session was delivered by Mr. Anil Kumar (Scientist-B, UCOST). He explained how patents can be registered and assigned. The next session was delivered by Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Assistant Professor, IIS University, Jaipur. He spoke on Trade Marks and G.I., which included many examples of Trade Marks and G. I. in India and procedure for their registration. Mr. Manoj Kumar, Scientific Assistant, UCOST spoke on copyright system in India and explained basic nuances involved in Copyright registration and infringement. Last session was delivered by Mr. Himanshu Goel, Project Scientist, UCOST on Role of UCOST in creating scientific awareness in Uttarakhand. This was followed by question-answer session.
